"Face to Face" Project

A Catholic nun stands in front of a photograph depicting a Rabbi, a part of the art project 'Face to Face', pasted on the controversial Israeli barrier in the West Bank town of Bethlehem March 4, 2007. The art project, by placing portraits of Palestinians and Israelis side by side, hopes to contribute to a better understanding between Israelis and Palestinians. REUTERS/Oleg Popov (WEST BANK)

This is actually part of a collection of images from an art project in Bethlehem. I think it is a creative way to portray everyones humanity and similarities. Like the caption says, the project hopes to improve understanding between people.

Visual propoganda is a good way to get a message across. I think this will be one of the many attempts in trying to re-unite the Middle East.
I do not know who are the members of this art project, but I do not think that for the Palestinians imprisioned in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank is appealing towards a better understanding. All the faces seems to being mocking at someone.
I have always enjoyed urban art, espially ones that inspire you to think. I enjoyed this post because the picture made me think about how we all smile and laugh the same way, but everyone is so busy with seperating into our own groups that we tend to see beyond that.
