KFC logo viewable from space

KFC has created a logo out of 65,000 12'' x 12'' painted tiles that is large enough to be seen from space. I think this takes advertising to an entirely new level. To me it seems like a wild gimmick just to get the media's attention, but I am sure that is exactly what the marketing team at KFC wanted. Though I have not researched whether other companies have done the same, this could be the strangest trend that may take off and lead to even bigger advertisment campaigns. On the other hand, I could see environmentalists becoming very concerned about our planet getting covered in logos. The funny thing is, this is a great way to get advertising space on Google Earth.

That is an awesome marketing tactic. Just imagine how many people use Google maps. Imagine having people see your advertisements as they view satellite images of an area. Great find!

I saw this in the news the other day and I thought the idea was pretty crazy. Like you said I think that the point of this was to get the media's attention. The odds of that many people looking around in space or on google maps to see ads isn't that high, except for the initial shock factor. However, it is still pretty cool to be the first.

Wow, I wonder when will other companies jump on the bandwagon and advertise like this. I guess the first thing our alien neighbors would want is some KFC.

Either if the ad is real or only a Corel makeshift, the idea is great. I do not think that the important thing is to be seen from space but from airlines.

I can just imagine pondering what to eat, when I see a KFC add on Earth, and am sold. Wait, no I can't, I don't live on the moon. I think this whole concept is ridiculous and will not be copied, unless they found a way to put an add on the moon that can be seen from earth.
